Funidata goes fishing!

Two weeks ago I was contacted by the CEO of Funidata OY, Mikko Myllys. The management team was on it’s way to Åland Islands for some business meetings and planning days. We decided to go on a 4hrs guided fishing trip with some lunch at the end.

The next Wednesday we met up in the morning of a partly stormy day. The team was Mikko, Mari Riihiaho , Jani Kajander, Toni Sallanmaa and they were geared up for some bad weather! Always nice with customers that look at the weather report and dress accordingly 🙂

At 9 we cast off from the dock and I started a short crash course in fishing pikefishing with spinningreels an lures. It all went very smoothly and in minutes they all were fishing. As always the skills get better during the first hours and before the day ended they all swung the rods like champions! Mari was evidently listening very closely to the instructions because it didn’t take all that long before she caught the first fish of the day!

The weather was in some ways pestering us with hard winds with up to 14m/s and every now and then a rain shower. The Minnkota electric motor did manage to keep us fairly stable while we were searching. The pikes however wasn’t really in the game and it took some time befor Mari takes the second one and totally dominates in the boat. Jani did’nt hesitate and soon he had a huge perch landed. 40cm and 800g is a superfish, his new PB!

Mari and Mikko managed to catch one each before it was time for a little sightseeing tour out to watch the archipelago. Back at the dock we went to the restaurant and was served nice hot meals and cold drinks.

I had a blast, I hope you had a good couple of meetings and a safe travel back to Helsinki!
