Juhani Nisu goes perchfishing

A couple of weeks ago I was contacted by Juhani, he wanted to go perch fishing. We arranged to go some days later and we had a great day on the water. Right from the beginning we concentrated on learning how to fish with jigs. This technique is not maybe the best for this season but Juhani was keen on learning it. Much to my surprise I got a perch on my second cast but that was just a lucky random one because after that we only caught pikes on the jigs…

Juhani managed to catch one of the smallest pikes I’ve seen 🙂

When Juhanis skill was honed on the jigging we started to move to different areas looking for active perch and using different types of lures depending on how deep we were fishing. One could notice that Juhani was an experienced fisherman during the day with no hassle and knots and quick thinking!

We pretty much got a bunch of pikes and only one perch at every stop we made. We kept on searching and fishing and with only 1,5h left of our 8hrs fishing we struck gold. Juhani wanted some nice perch for dinner for his friends and family for the night and quarter to four we only had three perch in our livewell. In about one our we landed somewhere between 40-50 perch and 15 of them was perfect size for dinner!

Perchfishing is so much fun but some days you really has to struggle to find the active fish! When you find them hunting they go bananas! Best action lures was Rapala Shadow Rap Jack Deep and Berkley Pulse Spintail

Thanks Juhani for a great day!
